VPN connection to The Moat School IT system
Introduction
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a special connection which can allow you to get access to the school's network from any place in the world via the internet. The advantage of that kind of connection is high security and the ability to have access to all the school's resources (Learning resources, email system, intranet website) from a remote computer. Unfortunately, because VPN uses your internet connection it is not as quick as working on a computer in the school.
How to get access to school VPN
Please download and fill in the Internet Connection Form (click to download) and leave it in ICT Lab. Then we will set up privileges to access our network and let you know when your VPN account will be ready to use.
The Moat School new VPN SSL connection
During the summer holidays 2008 we upgraded our mail system to the latest Exchange Server 2007 and set up the new remote access system SSL VPN, which will allow the pupils to access the school’s emails and documents from any computer, using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology, providing the security at the level of commercial banks. Since the beginning of the year staff have successfully tested the new system, and now we are setting it up for the pupils benefit as well. By the end of half term, all our pupils will have been given a new school mailbox and access to their documents from anywhere via The Moat School website with the highest possible security.
