Headteacher

Having worked for ten very fulfilling years with SpLD students in a mainstream school  I came to The Moat School as the Deputy Head to find out what could be achieved in a specialist setting.  What I found here surprised me enormously; it was a small school absolutely jam packed with ideas, ICT, initiative, intelligence and integrity.  The pupils came from all over London and the southwest but brought together as a result of their shared specific learning needs.  They were accepting of each other despite differences in terms of learning style, background, culture and educational experience.  The curriculum was demanding and the staff full of ingenuity and enthusiasm.  It was my kind of place and it still is.

I am very happy to be here seven years later and very proud to be the Headteacher of this extraordinary school.  The website will give you a taste of the curriculum, our ethos and the range of teaching styles offered by The Moat but only a visit will allow you to get a sense of the atmosphere.  The highly qualified, specialist staff and confident, outgoing pupils are the best possible indication of what can be achieved when children are understood and encouraged to take on the significant challenges of learning in a lower risk environment adapted to their needs.
